About

Hello, welcome to my little book blog. I’ve loved reading since I was a little kid when, unbeknown to me, my dad signed me up to a book club and I started to get a big box of books through the post every month. I thought it was amazing, someone was sending me free books?, and good ones to boot as well?! (I only found out my dad was being charged almost as much as my parents monthly mortgage repayments for this marvellous service when my mum found the bills a few years later…..) Anyway, I digress.

I’m into all sorts of books: classics, chick lit, crime and autobiographies, to name a few. Over the past few years though I have seriously got into fantsy novels, a genre that I have previously avoided because I don’t like stuff thats too far fetched for me to beleive in. However, my eyes have been opened to the amazing world of Harry Potter and I’ve never looked back! So, I’m a big fan of Twilight, Lord of the Rings and things of this sort.

I also love to read travel journals and articles as I have a degree in Tourism Management and have a real passion for all things travel related.

I should explain that I tend to get obsessed when I discover a piece of literature I just can’t put down. My first obsession started with classics such as Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice and Far From The Madding Crowd. These classics literally took me to a world I didn’t know existed, and if I could, I would have happily exchanged my boring 21st century life to be Elizabeth Bennet.

I had a brief flirtation with poetry after winning a competition when I was a kid and was published in a children’s poetry collection. However, books have always been, and always will, remain dear to my heart and I’m always surprised when a new book takes over my life.

So, on this little blog you will basically find my honest thoughts and opinions on books I have read. I don’t pretend to be intelligent or knowledgeable. My opinion is in no way more important than anyone else’s. Quite simply, I’m writing this blog as a way to interact with like-minded people and I hope you enjoy it.

I’m always on the hunt for a good read, so please get in touch if you can recommend any great books.

From the name of my blog, you may have surmised that I’m a mum. This slight alteration in lifestyle has in no way impeded my love of reading. I love nothing more than to read to my kids and see their little faces light up with excitement. It is my life’s ambition to instill my passion for books and all things wordy in my two little girls….now, where’s dad’s credit card to pay for that book club membership?….
